AlgoTrade Pro YouTube backtests (AlgoTrade Pro): tested

What it claims

The channel publishes its own backtests of common indicators with a fixed stop, a 1:1 target and a 200-period trend filter, reports modest win rates near 50%, and often says plainly that a strategy lost money.

What we tested

We collected the win rates published in 262 videos, then coded 10 indicators the channel tested that we had not (Choppiness, Aroon, Hull MA, Vortex, Williams %R and others) and ran them under the channel's own rules and with a 2R target on 12 markets: 78 versions.

Before trading costs unless stated. R = the amount risked on a trade.

Costs turn a small positive result into -0.104R per trade; under the channel's own rules every 30-minute version with enough trades was clearly negative.

Why

The channel's win rates centre on about 50%, and running its indicators under its own rules gave about 51%, so its published numbers hold up. At a 1:1 target a strategy needs 50% just to break even, so that extra point is worth about 0.02R per trade, roughly the cost of trading on daily bars and far below it on 30-minute bars. Honest numbers are not the same as a profitable strategy, and the channel does not claim otherwise.

Limits of this test

  • Tested on the first 60% of each market's history; the rest is held back for any strategy that passes. Costs use our own spread, slippage and overnight-financing model, not one broker's.
  • 'Claims reproduced' refers to the win rates the channel publishes, not to profitability; it does not claim these indicators are profitable.
  • 13 of the 262 video files had no transcript and are untested.
