SuperTrend + Relative Volume (Kernel Optimized) (Flux Charts): tested
What it claims
A SuperTrend whose buy and sell arrows are presented as confirmed by high volume.
What we tested
Its own trend direction and arrows on gold 5-minute bars (19 July to 11 September 2026) with its volume filter off, as it ships, and on at three levels; entered at the next bar's open with and without a stop. The best setting was then run unchanged on five more markets, and on 4-hour bars over 6.7 years.
After spreads the six-market result was +0.005% per trade, statistically zero. On 4-hour bars trades lasted about two months, and overnight financing turned a small gain into a clear loss.
Why
As shipped, the 'high volume' arrows are simply the SuperTrend's own flips, because the volume threshold is switched off by default. With it switched on, the best setting looked strong on gold, the market it was chosen on, but the same setting lost on the other five markets after costs. On six years of 4-hour bars it was positive before financing but not reliably so, and holding each trade for two months cost more than it made.
Limits of this test
- Financing uses an assumed 7% a year; at 4-hour bars that assumption decides the result.
- The 5-minute results rest on 34 to 42 trades per market (about 54 days of history).
