Multi-Timeframe Trend Signal Engine + Symmetry Reversal Oscillator (Viprasol): tested

No edge TradingView indicator · tested 12 Sep 2026 · figures re-checked 8 Oct 2026

What it claims

A trend engine with buy and sell marks, tuned by its Sensitivity and ATR Factor inputs, used with a rule to trade only when the Symmetry Reversal Oscillator is on the same side of zero.

What we tested

Both indicators' own output on gold 5-minute bars (19 July to 11 September 2026): the trend state and the buy/sell marks, with and without the oscillator rule, over 16 Sensitivity and ATR Factor settings, then again on 6.7 years of 4-hour gold.

1different trend signals across its 16 settingsthe two inputs never changed a trade
+0.004%trend-following, per trade before costsabout a fifth of one trade's cost
-0.015%trend-following, per trade after costs1,754 trades; loses at every setting
-0.25%its buy/sell marks, per trade before costswithout a stop; 57 to 71 trades per setting
Before trading costs unless stated. R = the amount risked on a trade.

After a typical gold spread the trend-following rule lost 0.015% per trade at every setting, and the oscillator-filtered version lost 0.014%.

Why

The trend signal earned about a fifth of the trading cost before costs, and the information in it was well inside what random signals produce. The two inputs a user would tune, Sensitivity and ATR Factor, did not change a single trade across 16 settings. The oscillator's zero-line rule cut the number of trades without making the remaining ones better.

Limits of this test

  • One market (gold), 55 days of 5-minute bars, plus 4-hour bars; it was not sent to other markets because nothing passed on gold.
  • The oscillator's author is not recorded in our test notes.
